My Journey

I was born in Odda, a small industrial town in western Norway, and grew up in a modest apartment on Røldal Haukelivegen. My father worked in a factory, while my mother managed the home, instilling in me and my brother strong values of honesty, frugality, and respect. Though we came from a working-class background, my parents taught us to take pride in our roots and emphasized the importance of integrity.

My childhood was a mix of safety and solitude, giving me both a secure foundation and the space for self-reflection. This balance shaped my outlook on life, fostering self-reliance, creativity, and a deep love of learning. My mother’s constant affirmations, combined with my academic success, gave me resilience and the courage to keep exploring.

For more than 40 years, I worked in education as a secondary school teacher and adult education coordinator, gaining a rich understanding of people and communication. Alongside teaching, writing and poetry became my way of processing experiences and connecting with others.

Today, writing is more than a profession for me—it’s an essential part of who I am. As a novelist, essayist, and lifelong learner, I explore creativity, technology, and the human spaces in between.
